The Michael Jackson Experience

MichaelJacksonTheExperience

I bought the Michael Jackson Experience for Wii as a gift for Aiden, but the experience is so addictive I think it almost became a gift to myself too. The only problem is that it only detects the movement from the hand with the remote, but it still fantastic fun just to dance around to the songs and try to get enough points to unlock new dance choreography video, which is the end target of the game.

Well, end target is maybe the wrong word for this game will be fun to play as long as Michael Jackson’s music and dance will be entertaining. That is forever.

See the official trailer.

Post vacation syndrome

imgp3708I think I have a post vacation syndrome which has turned into a (hopefully and likely) temporary Michael Jackson obsession. After seeing Thriller Live and buying the t-shirt (image: taking it for a spin at Tyger Tyger in London) I have also bought a biography and downloaded a documentary from 2003. The biography is called Michael Jackson – The Magic and the Madness and is really well written and seem fairly objective.  The documentary paints a very sad and deranged image and was called a PR-disaster by people working for MJ.

Well, Michael Jackson’s life IS a very sad story in many ways. His father’s physical and mental abuse put deep scars in MJ, resulting in an obsession  with the shape of his nose - he felt it resembled his father’s and through countless of operations he managed to destroy a good-looking face.

After reading up on MJ it becomes quite apparent that the charges of pedophilia are untrue and that MJ was an asexual child with many mental problems deriving from a tough childhood and a weird life spent always being in the spotlight. There was only one place where he felt truly comfortable and that was on stage.

Off the stage MJ was extremely shy and in many ways remained a child for all of his life. He loved playing and kept “Neverland” much like a playground, trying to regain some of the childhood he never had. He is the greatest pop legend that ever lived, but many will remember him with mixed feelings due to his extreme plastic surgery, the dangling-child-over-balcony-scandal, the rumours of pedophilia, and the other weird things that happened in his life.

I will remeber him with the sadness and fondness and can only hope that he has found some peace in his soul now.

We will see how my soul feels when I get back to the office on Monday.

Thriller, live!

mainpicMe and Lenah spent a couple of days in London before going to Sweden. As usual there was a lot of walking, shopping and coffee drinking involved. The weather was not the best and but we found some good food, mohitos, and L managed to tick off all the items on her list. London is not as good as New York, but it works as a big city weekend destination.

The highlight of the trip was seeing Thriller Live, a tribute show to Michael Jackson. We just happened to walk by the Lyric theater and I thought it would be a good idea as we both (well, I think almost everybody does) like his songs and it felt like good timing to be reminded of his greatness now that he has passed away. Luckily, we got 2 front row tickets, not cheap, but believe me it was worth every pence!

It was an amazing show that made your heart do the moonwalk and your soul sing and dance like a kid. The live band, the singers, the dancers, the coreography, everything was spectacular. It was the best show we’ve ever seen, and I would have gone the next day if it wasn’t for us going to Sweden instead. If you are in London and like Michael Jackson, this is a definite must go!
